"The offer has been extended and they've pretty much accepted".

They don't want the Grammy Award-winning band to play Super Bowl LIII, with the two primary arguments being they don't like Maroon 5's music, or they're not from Atlanta.

As noted by Aswad, the challenge for the National Football League in selecting a Super Bowl halftime act is finding one that not only is available, safe and solidly mainstream, but also an act that hasn't done the show previously.

The band is expected to tour their album "Red Pill Blues" for the next few months. Maroon 5's most recent hit was a tag team with Cardi B, "Girls Like You", listed as one of the top songs of the summer by recent streaming service charts. Those artists are right in Maroon 5's current stylistic wheelhouse, and the band is well-versed in allowing other performers to shine right along with them. Props to them for making it big and pumping out hit after hit.
