Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's engagement has officially been called off, according to TMZ.

The two captivated the internet with a whirlwind romance that began in May and led to a proposal just a few weeks later in June. Their engagement has been called off, and the former lovers have also chose to end their romantic relationship.

According to TMZ, the pair made a decision to go their separate ways this weekend after deciding it "wasn't the right time" for them to be in a relationship.

A source gave more details to People magazine saying, "It was way too much too soon".

One Twitter user wrote at the time: "Pete Davidson covered his unsafe woman tattoo, a tweet announcing the breakup with the notes app is coming!"

Grande has also recently been contending with undisclosed personal issues that reportedly prompted the singer to take a break from work to focus on her well-being.

Grande also told ET that she had been struggling with anxiety since May 2017, after her concert in Manchester, England was the site of a terrorist bombing that took the lives of 22 people.

The couple's split comes at a hard time for Grande, who's been dealing with the loss of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who died from an apparent drug overdose on September 7. Davidson and Grande "still have love for each other", the insider said, but their relationship is "over romantically".
