Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) is all smiles while arriving for the opening of the V&A Photography Centre at the Victoria & Albert Museum on Wednesday night (October 10) in London, England.

The mother-of-three's appearance was a surprise to royal watchers as she already had joined husband Prince William for an appearance marking World Mental Health Day on Tuesday.

Kate, 36, wowed in a checked midi dress by one of her favourite designers, Erdem, as she visited the V&A museum in west London.

The Duchess, who became the first Royal Patron of the museum in March this year, toured the opening exhibition Collecting Photography: From Daguerreotype to Digital which showcased photography dating back from its invention in the 19th century to present day.

William and Middleton have been vocal about their advocacy for mental health, starting their Heads Together campaign, along with Prince Harry, and aiming to combat the stigma surrounding mental health.
