Glenn Hoddle rushed to hospital after collapsing at BT Sport studios

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle is "responding well" to treatment after being taken to hospital on Saturday.

Hoddle fell ill shortly after he began his punditry duties on BT Sport - the show was cancelled as a result.

Gary Lineker, who played alongside Hoddle with England at the 1986 World Cup and is a colleague on BT Sport, wrote on Twitter: "Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier".

A spokesman for the Tottenham legend said: "The condition is serious but Glenn is now receiving specialist treatment and responding well".

"Glenn's family are with him and would like to thank everyone that has sent their support".

"They have also asked for their privacy to be respected at this time".

Hoddle, one of the finest players of his generation, had appeared on BT Sport where he was filmed smiling while playing football tennis with other former professionals shortly before his collapse.
