The big cow has inspired a lot of hope and joy

Knickers the Holstein Friesian Australian steer takes the internet by storm

Knickers, who is a Holstein Friesian, is double the weight of an average animal of its breed and more than a foot taller.

He's now set to enjoy a long and happy life at the Lake Preston feedlot in Myalup, 136km (85 miles) south of Perth.

Big Knickers: According to BBC, Knickers was first bought when he was about 1 year old.

"We never thought he would turn into a big knickers".

Knickers was only slightly shorter than Mr Pearson's son Tex, 17, who stands 204cm (6ft 7in), and is even taller when measuring to the top of the massive beast's head. Despite other members of Knickers's herd being sent to the slaughterhouse, Pearson said he chose to let Knickers stay on the feedlot as "he's not hurting anyone".

Cattle in general are also getting bigger due to selective breeding of the heaviest and therefore most lucrative cows for meat production.

Since Knickers won't be contributing to human society by becoming the next meal platter, Pearson and his family found another way to make the most of the steer's enormous stature in the farm.

Unlike the rest of his pals, Knickers will be permitted to live out the rest of his days on the Western Australia plains, as they can't bring themselves to butcher him.

Shockingly, Knickers isn't the biggest steer, as in 2010 a steer named Bellino was measured at six feet and six inches at a show in Rome. According to Geoff Pearson, "Whenever he wants to get up and start walking there's a trail of hundreds of cattle following him".
