Fiancé Patrick Frazee Arrested For First-Degree Murder

Woodland Park home berreth Kelsey Berreths Fiancé Patrick Frazee Arrested On First Degree Murder Charge

Churchgoers in Washington state gathered Friday night to remember Colorado mother Kelsey Berreth, hours after her fiancé was arrested and accused of killing her.

"As you can tell by the arrest, sadly, we do not believe Kelsey is still alive", Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young said Friday during a press conference.

Frazee made his first court appearance Friday afternoon via video, according to ABC Denver affiliate KMGH. Kelsey loves her God, she loves her family and friends, and she loves her job.

Berreth's phone did end up in Idaho, De Young confirmed Friday, adding that police are still working to recover it.

De Young declined to comment on whether others were involved, but charges of solicitation to commit murder are defined as "actual soliciting, or seeking to engage another to commit a crime", which could imply that someone else participated in the crime.

Three days after Berreth was last seen, a text was sent from her phone telling an employee at Doss Aviation, a flight school in Colorado Springs where she worked as an instructor, that she would be taking the rest of the week off.

A police investigation was opened December 2 after Berreth's mother asked for a welfare check.

Bipartisan criminal justice reform passed overwhelmingly by Senate
For example, the Koch brothers-backed group, Americans for Prosperity, applauded senators for putting "policy ahead of politics". An array of liberal and conservative advocacy groups rallied in support of the bill. "That is not respectful of crime victims".

Patrick Frazee's arrest came almost one month after Berreth, the mother of his 1-year-old daughter, vanished on Thanksgiving Day near Woodland Park, a city between Denver and Colorado Springs.

Frazee and Berreth's daughter is in protective custody and will be reunited with Berreth's family, De Young said. In an interview, she described their relationship as "loving."

Last week, police conducted a search of Frazee's 35-acre ranch in the Crystal Peaks Ranches subdivision in Teller County, Colorado. Although police have still not found her body, the chief said that they do not believe she is alive.

Frazee, who did not live with Kelsey, told police that he last saw his fiancée on that same Thanksgiving Day when they met up so he could take their daughter in an exchange. He said she dropped off the baby and was heading to Washington.

Frazee has been booked on a charge of first-degree murder and solicitation of first-degree murder, but officials explained it may be about 10 days before he is formally charged, according to Dan May, attorney general for Colorado's 4th Judicial District.

Berreth's mother told CBS News' Nikki Battiste last week the couple was excited to get married, but hadn't set a wedding date. The search and arrest affidavits will stay sealed during the investigation, he said. Frazee is being held without bond.

"I can not stress enough that this is a hard time for Kelsey's family", De Young said on Friday, adding that their work is just beginning.
