Former NASA engineer gets revenge on porch pirates with glitter bomb

Some Bloke Made A Glitter Fart Bomb To Get Revenge On Xmas Package Thieves

Rober was able to catch - and surprise - several crooks.

Former NASA engineer Mark Rober, however, came up with a very novel idea involving an Apple HomePod retail box.

He created a package that would, when opened, cover the thief with glitter and spray a foul-smelling "fart spray" until the thief tossed the package. But when they told him it wasn't worth their time and effort to do anything about it, he knew he'd need to get his own revenge. However, authorities have been slow to respond and the Federal Bureau of Investigation now keeps no national statistics on the issue.

Rober's brilliant trap utilizes an Apple HomePod box to house four smartphones to record video of Amazon package thieves (the awful people who take packages left on people's doorsteps). Rober explains exactly how everything works in the YouTube video below, but basically, when an unsuspecting thief opens up the package, glitter shoots out everywhere, fart smells fill up their location - and four Android smartphones record everything and upload the footage to the cloud.

It shows how Rober connected four phones to a GPS-connected circuit board inside an Apple box.

"If the thief wasn't in such a hurry they'd see that the package is actually coming from my childhood hero and the inspiration for this project", joked Rober.

Rober's efforts have paid off big time: his video has already been viewed over 9 million times less than a day after being published, and it's the #1 trending video across all of YouTube.

As an added Christmas bonus, Mr Rober made the sender's name Kevin McCallister - the name of Macaulay Culkin's iconic 1990 Home Alone character.

Moral of the story: Don't steal other people's packages!
