Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 855 Processor for 5G Phones

As the Snapdragon 855 will be manufactured on a 7nm process node, just like Apple's A12 Bionic and Huawei's Kirin 980, the chip will benefit from significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency.

"Through our close collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Verizon reached a number of milestones over the past year to help make 5G a reality for consumers in 2019", said Nicki Palmer, chief network engineering officer for Verizon. Samsung has stepped up to the plate.

Samsung has also confirmed that it plans to bring a mainstream 5G phone to market in the first half of 2019, so the company will have to work quickly to be able to achieve this.
