Worldwide inquiry necessary in Khashoggi's murder, United Nations says

Khashoggi murder: CIA chief Haspel 'to brief Congress'

He parroted the line from his ruling family's government that Khashoggi, whose articles for the Washington Post were critical of the crown prince, left the consulate unharmed.

He said it seemed as though the White House's response to the Khashoggi killing was that "you can kill a journalist". Istanbul's chief prosecutor's court application said there was "strong suspicion" the two aides were involved in planning the killing.

A Turkish court made the move after prosecutors argued their case against Ahmad al Assiri and Saud al Qahtani, who were described as being "among the planners" of the Washington Post columnist's murder.

Turkey has been seeking to extradite 18 suspects, including 15 members of the alleged assassination squad.

Three different measures are making their way through the Senate: a war powers resolution ending any USA involvement in the Yemen conflict; legislation imposing a broad clampdown on Saudi Arabia, including ending arms sales and levying new sanctions; and a non-binding resolution targeting the crown prince.

Corker also took aim at the kingdom's ambassador to the United States Prince Khalid bin Salman, the crown prince's younger brother, referring to him as an individual of "zero credibility" and suggesting that he could be expelled. "Now, the question is how do you separate the Saudi crown prince and his group from the nation itself?"

In a blistering attack, Senator Lindsey Graham said he had "high confidence" Mohammed bin Salman was complicit in the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, BBC reported.

Graham, who is influential on foreign policy issues and has lately been an ally of President Donald Trump, told reporters earlier Wednesday he wants to "suspend arms sales and support for the war in Yemen until several things happen".

Prince Mohammed "is a wrecking ball", Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican from SC, told reporters after an hour-long briefing by the CIA Director, Gina Haspel on Tuesday. Some 14 million people face starvation, and recent studies estimate 85,000 children under five have starved to death.

"The worldwide community seems to doubt Saudi Arabia's commitment to prosecute this heinous crime", the official said, adding that by extraditing all suspects to Turkey, "Saudi authorities could address those concerns".

Graham had said that "there's a smoking saw" implicating MBS, adding that anyone who would deny his involvement at this point is "willfully blind".

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker, R-Tenn., told reporters the crown prince "ordered, monitored, the killing" of Khashoggi.

The CIA has concluded Mohammed bin Salman "probably ordered" the killing of Khashoggi.
