Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez poses with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for a ceremonial swearing-in

The 29-year-old Ocasio-Cortez, a democratic socialist, made bettering the lives of working people and the poor in her Queens-Bronx district a key component of her successful campaign to upset longtime incumbent Joseph Crowley in the 2018 Democratic primary. Instead she shot back, tweeting, "New party, who dis?".

Last year Ocasio-Cortez was also mocked after she lamented the shuttering of a coffee shop in NY, which, it was revealed, closed its doors because of the wage hike in the state - a policy that she supports, causing 150 people to lose their jobs.

The Politico report follows criticism from high profile former members of Congress like Democrat Claire McCaskill, a former senator from Missouri.

"I'm sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there's nearly an outstanding rule: Don't attack your own people", Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) said.

"I can not tell you the amount of dysfunction that this president is advancing", she said on MSNCB following the address, as reported by The Daily Wire.

"Honestly, if the Democrats had three more of her [Ocasio-Cortez], Americans would run away so fast that we'd have a power monopoly until she's Lieberman's age". He frequently voted along Republican ideology lines, and post-retirement from the Senate, served as head counsel for the white collar criminal defense and investigations practice at a law firm that did extensive work for Donald Trump and then later failed to mention that as a conflict of interest when necessary.
