Roger Stone’s Dramatic FBI Arrest Is Inspiring Plenty Of Jokes And Memes

Roger Stone

The indictment does not allege that Stone had contact with "Individual 1" - a.k.a Donald Trump - about the hack, but it extensively details how Stone coordinated with "Organization 1" - a.k.a. Wikileaks - about the impending release of illegally stolen documents.

Prosecutors also asked that Stone, who did not enter a plea, undergo a drug test, and his lawyer did not object.

Prosecutors did not charge Stone with conspiring with WikiLeaks or with the Russian officers Mueller says hacked the emails. The indictment alleged a senior Trump campaign official was directed by an unnamed person to make contact with Stone about WikiLeaks releases that could affect the Clinton campaign negatively.

Organization 1 is referring to Wikileaks, which later released the damaging emails.

Stone was arrested by heavily-armed Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in a pre-dawn raid at his Florida home on Friday.

"FBI, open the door", one shouts.

A self-described "agent provocateur" of the American right and Republican veteran of Washington and New York City politics, Stone has a tattoo of the face of late president Richard Nixon on his back. Mr Stone had been predicting his indictment for some time.

Syria says repels Israeli air attack, Israel says downs Golan rocket
According to Syrian opposition media, approximately 10 missiles were fired at targets near the airport and in al-Kiswah. The military added that there was no damage done to the airport and no casualties on the ground.

Israel Confirms Syria Strike, Ends Mission on Lebanon Border
Most of the missiles fired by "Israeli military planes" were intercepted at around 11:00pm (2100 GMT), the source said. Israel also insists that Iran uses Syria as a bridge to supply missiles and other weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Stone is expected to appear in a federal courthouse later Friday.

We've known for a while that Stone communicated with a Wikileaks "intermediary" during the 2016 campaign, radio host Randy Credico, who tipped off Stone ahead of time about what he then said were key features of upcoming Wikileaks releases.

Stone's attorney, Grant Smith, said that Stone's misstatements were due to forgetfulness and were "immaterial".

Trump reacted to the news on Twitter, calling Mueller's investigation the "Greatest Witch Hunt in the History of our Country!" and added: "NO COLLUSION!" Trump himself peddled doubts about his opponent's health on the campaign trail, fueling a right-wing conspiracy theory.

Trump had said he fired Stone from his presidential campaign.

"This has been rumoured to be coming down for several months, so Roger and his legal team are ready to fight these charges in court", Caputo told Reuters. Stone continued occasionally communicating with Trump and stayed plugged into his circle of advisers, both formal and informal. "STONE thereafter told the Trump Campaign about potential future releases of damaging material by Organization 1". Bloomberg and CNBC also reported that the official was Bannon, citing sources familiar with the situation. Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort has also said he kept in communication with Stone during the campaign. The indictment quotes from those emails, which had previously been made public by news outlets. An associate of that official texted Stone after the release to say, "Well done".

When Person 2 texted Stone about the House intelligence committee's request for voluntary testimony in November, Stone, who worked for Nixon's 1972 re-election campaign, quoted his former boss. Representatives for the heads of the two congressional committees that interviewed Stone could not be immediately reached.
