House panel opens sweeping probe of Trump, his associates

Michael Cohen sues Trump Org alleging unpaid legal fees

"Ridiculous!" he exclaimed on Twitter.

White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders lambasted the probe as "disgraceful and abusive".

'...have embarked on this fishing expedition because they are terrified that their two-year false narrative of "Russia collusion" is crumbling'...

"Their intimidation and abuse of American citizens is shameful".

According to Politico's Darren Samuelson and Andrew Desiderio, a senior Committee lawyer said: "the document request was put together with sign-off from prosecutors in Mueller's office and the Southern District of NY".

The session before the House Intelligence Committee was Cohen's second.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler told ABC on Sunday that Gen Kelly could be included.

Now that Democrats hold a majority in the House, the new probe is a sign that Trump's legal and political peril is nowhere near over, even as the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation winds down.

It is also an indication of the Democrats' current strategy - to flood the administration with oversight requests, keeping Trump and his associates on trial publicly and also playing a long game when it comes to possible impeachment.

Oscars 2019: Olivia Colman wins Best Actress Academy Award for 'The Favourite'
Bohemian Rhapsody was the most awarded film at the ceremony, with prizes for Malek, film editing, sound mixing and sound editing. Well, she did describe her Oscars win as "hilarious" and tear up while kissing her award - so we don't dispute that at all.

Trump told reporters after Nadler's probe was announced that "I cooperate all the time with everybody".

He added: "Every time I think about this, I think about that particular issue because I think he really does care about his family, I think he loves his family, and I don't think he wanted his family to go through this". No collusion. It's all a hoax. "Democrats are harassing the president to distract from their radical agenda of making America a socialist country, killing babies after they're born, and pushing a "green new deal" that would destroy jobs and bankrupt America".

In the high-profile probe that has riveted the nation, Mueller is looking into whether Trump's 2016 campaign coordinated with Russian agents to rig the election and whether Trump sought to block the investigation.

A day after Democrats won control of the House, the president warned he would create gridlock in Washington by going to a "war-like posture" if he determined their probes of his 2016 campaign, businesses and presidency were going too far. House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings is also scrutinizing Trump.

The chairmen of three other House panels also joined the fray, demanding the White House produce details of communications between Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, after reports that such information was destroyed or hidden in the aftermath of their 2017 Helsinki summit.

Last week, Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen in congressional testimony accused the president of committing crimes including campaign finance violations and potential tax fraud.

Some of the entities and people who received document requests are Michael Cohen, the Trump Organization, the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, Trump Foundation, Kushner Companies, and Trump's two sons.

Almost all the current and former administration officials, friends and family listed on the request have hired private attorneys to navigate both the Mueller probe and now the oversight process - among them Hope Hicks, Reince Priebus, Steve Bannon, Kushner and Don McGahn.

The letters to Hicks and Spicer ask them to turn over any work diaries, journals or "a description of daily events related to your employment" by Trump.
