Trump's call for the report to be released is supported by the House, which unanimously passed a resolution last week for Mueller's report to be made public, though Barr is not obligated to comply to the House's demands.

All Comey wants, he says, is for Mueller's long-awaited report to show that the United States justice system works. "I also don't care", Comey, a frequent critic of Mr. Trump, wrote in a New York Times op-ed published Thursday.

"I have no idea whether the special counsel will conclude that Mr. Trump knowingly conspired with the Russians in connection with the 2016 election or that he obstructed justice with the required corrupt intent".

Trump's full response to reporters before boarding Marine One for OH was contradictory at times, with the president saying the public deserves to see the report while adding that it was up to Barr.

"It's sort of interesting that a man just writes a report", Trump said of the Special Counsel, who has been hard at work for 22 months and three days investigating Russia's attack on the USA electoral system. "Let's see whether or not it's legit", he added.

That report projected muted economic gains in coming years, partly because of the fading impact of tax cuts and higher spending. The budget arrives as the Senate readies to vote this week to terminate Trump's national emergency declaration.

The House voted 420-0 last week to make the Mueller report public, but an attempt by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to force a vote on the measure in the Senate was shot down by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.

Trump on Wednesday referred to Rosenstein as "a deputy" who was "appointed", and who then "appoint [ed] another man to write a report".

There has been increasing speculation that Mueller has almost completed his investigation. Rosenstein appointed Mueller, a former FBI director, to conduct the investigation.

Trump's new attorney general, William Barr, committed during his January 15 confirmation hearing to releasing as much of the Mueller report as laws and regulations allow. At the same time, let it come out.

Trump taunted the special counsel, suggesting he is "look [ing] forward" to seeing what Mueller came up with, while also dismissively describing it as an illegitimate effort to undermine his presidency by unelected bureaucrats.

At least two people were removed from or left the Mueller team due to bias against Trump in their internal communications. "Lots of faces, lots of please, and lots of indictments", said Tur, pointing to images of individuals such as former Trump campaign consultant Paul Manafort, former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, and former Trump advisor George Papadopoulos, to name a few.
