NBA star Kristaps Porzingis reportedly accused of rape in New York

Kristaps Porzingis

The Knicks informed Dallas of the pending Porzingis rape allegations on a January 31 trade call with National Basketball Association headquarters that finalized the blockbuster deal, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

While playing for the Knicks previous year, Porzingis suffered a major knee injury during a game at Madison Square Garden against the Milwaukee Bucks that the Knicks lost.

When asked about the allegations by the Post, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said in an email, "We have been instructed by federal authorities not to comment".

Kristaps Porzingis is investigated for a rape allegation that was made against him by a woman in NY. The Post reports that she brought the claims to the NYPD this past Thursday, which consider her claims credible and "believable". She reportedly told police he visited her at her apartment around 2 a.m. before she accepted an invitation to come to his residence.

We can not comment further on an ongoing federal investigation.

The newspaper said the woman told police that after she entered the 7-foot-3-inch player's home he held her down and raped her. We also alerted the National Basketball Association months ago and they are aware of the ongoing investigation of the accuser by federal law enforcement.

Florida Rep. Darren Soto files bill to make Puerto Rico a state
Darren Soto from Florida will present the bill that would automatically make the island part of the union if enacted. "We have seen time and time again that colonial status is simply not working", Soto said.

Republicans and Democrats brace for renewed battles over Mueller report
Much of the apparent action so far has been out of the powerful, insular US Attorney's Office in Manhattan. The charges include hacking emails, lying to investigators and financial crimes, among others.

Special counsel Robert Mueller completes investigation
I think the public has the right to know, especially given all the time, money, and drama associated with Mueller's investigation. The prospect of no further indictments could present a massive boon to President Trump and many of those surrounding him.

According to the Post, the woman accusing Porzingis was a neighbor who says he invited to his apartment on February 7, 2018.

The $68,000 was supposed to pay for her brother's college tuition, but Porzingis reneged on the deal, the woman reportedly told police.

"We made a formal referral to federal law enforcement on 20 December 2018, based on the accuser's extortionate demands", Riopelle said in a statement.

According to the New York Post, the NYPD's Special Victims Division has taken over the case.

But he's not expected to play with the team till next season while he recovers from the injury.
